Description
A Bristol coffee cup from the Smith service, of ogee shape, with angular, gilt-decorated handle, painted in enamels with green laurel garlands resting on oval gilt panels, two containing the arms of Smith in black, red and gilt and the larger panel containing the initials SS (Sarah Smith) in tiny pink and gilt garlands and all three panelse resting on gilt fronds, all between heavy gilt lines and under gilt dentil rim, circa 1774-75. Mark: blue X
