Description
A Bristol sucrier and cover from the Smith service, of ogee shape, the cover with finely modelled and gilt-decorated flower knop, painted in enamels with green laurel garlands resting on oval gilt panels, two containing the arms of Smith in black, red and gilt and two larger panels containing the initials SS (Sarah Smith) in tiny pink and gilt garlands and all three panelse resting on gilt fronds, all between heavy gilt lines and under gilt dentil rim, circa 1774-75. Unusual marks: blue X together with puce tin. A.1., the 1 matching Henry Bone's typical numeral
