Cottage Bristol - mixed bouquet around a large rose
These should not be considered alongside other Cottage Bristol that was produced quickly in the final run-off years of the Bristol factory. These pieces all feature an underglaze cross swords mark overpainted with a blue cross so were likely produced in 1773/4 around the handover from Cookworthy to Champion, not in the late 1770s. The quality of the decoration is far superior to that produced in the late 1770s, and finally the handles on these cups are all ear-shaped rahter than plain loop.
