Cup — CRC# 1667

Description
A fine Champion’s, Bristol, coffee cup with basketweave moulded border, painted in monochrome with flower sprays by James Banford. Banford was apprenticed to the Bristol factory. He became a renowned flower painter at Bristol, subsequently moving to Derby, where he also became one of the principal artists. The piece was made in the period January 1773 to August 1778. Blue "X" mark.
